99 9-3 four to six speakers please

On the weekend I added door speakers to my 1999 Saab 9-3. It has the factory stereo and originally had only 4-speakers. I cut the holes and wired the new speakers into the harness plugs in the doors..

I am getting no sound out of either door speaker... both the original front and back speaker locations ( I upgraded them too) are working fine.

Is there some magical mystical Saab Scan Tool thing to happen here... or is there somekind of switch either in the radio or outside to switch on the door speakers or do I need to find another Saab stereo that had 6-speakers originally:confused:

I want to stay with a factory stereo. This should be easy but..

The saab stereo door speakers were powered by an amp on the passenger side in the kick panel. Below the glove box, behind the plastic to behind the center. If you don't have it (which you don't unless someone paid extra, I think it came standard on the ses) you need to wire up another amp to power them.

There are numerous threads about this also.

A 9-3 should be able to use a straight DIN plug since its jack is on the back, not on the side. I'd check a junkyard like Goldwing or eBay for a factory amp. All of the wiring is already there behind the kickpanel, and they're fairly cheap. A friend of mine got one on eBay for around $40.

thanks

wow.. thanks for all the information..

I'm new to Saabs but I am amazed on what is out there, the support and number of enthusiasts...

I'm not a audiofile, so I will try to find a used factory amp or wire in a new very small Ebay 2-channel cheapie...
