Here is the scenario, the AC Pump bearing failed and the pulley failed therefore seized and smoked the belt and the idler pulley ( was traveling at high speed at the time - what a thrill to lose Power steering then!).
Since then I have replaced the AC pump, the idler pulley and the serp belt. I did buy a good belt (Gates $55). The problem now is that when it is under 55 degrees F, on a start up there is a very loud annoying belt whining noise that lasts for some time period depending on how cold it actually is outside, the colder the louder and longer the noise lasts. This morning it was 9F outside and the noise went on for 3 minutes or more.
I have also replaced the battery in the last month or so.
It is a 2003 Saab 9 3 convertible, 53k miles. It is loaded with all the bells and whistles.
ANy help with possible diagnosis would be GREATLY appreciated, I use the Saab every day and travel a minimum of 75 miles.
thanks
