View Full Version : 9-7X Aero
Checked one out yesterday, all I can say is that is the ultimate sleeper! Sick! The exhaust note on start up sounds like a F-18 set to launch.

Leased one Friday. Love the exhaust note. Wicked! Winding the motor out on an onramp was just insane. The suspension is incredible for an SUV-based vehicle. Little body roll and holds a curve like it's on rails.
Kudos to Saab for an awesome performance package!
Congrats on the new ride! post some pics when you get a chance

I've got a set of pics in with Swade at trollhattan-y'all-know-where-dot-net. :cheesy:
I'm still a low tech redneck when it comes to digital media and photography. I was going to give him the chance to review and comment to get a decent set of photos up that are worthy of the vehicle.
Next ... I've gotta figure out how to record and post that exhaust note! It's got that "what the heck is under that hood?!?!" or "dude, is that engine controller chipped?" feel to it.

Just out of curiosity, what kind of gas milage are you seeing? We have a 2006 4.2i, and I couldn't imagine getting less that that...
... however, with that power and sound, I think we could manage. :)
(oh, and I'm not expecting car-like numbers here -- just pure curiosity. I know it's an SUV)

I've only had the vehichle since Friday at 7 PM. The computer was still going up from around 12.9 MPG when I had it on the highway to/from Charlotte NC on Saturday. Based on past experience with the Saab gas mileage computation, I've got to run 3 - 4 tanks through it to get a stable number.
But, yes. In keeping with BFJ, I believe the 9-7x Aero sprays raw fuel into the exhaust stream to achieve thrust from an afterburner-type effect ... :cheesy:

Roger that... sadly, it's not SAAB milage computation in this one, but standard GM. Watch out when you get down to the last 30 miles in the tank, because the DIC will just say "Low Fuel." With a monster like that, you might drink that last bit up a little too quickly... :)
If you're ever up near the Winston/Greensboro area, drop me a PM -- I'd love to hear that thing. :cheesy:

Just came back from taking a 97x Aero for a test drive at Garry Small Saab in Portland Oregon. I got to say that SUV is fast. Its totally a sleeper there isn't an SUV that I have driven that could come close to keep up with it (except trailblazer ss)
Looked at one last week, looking to upgrade from my wife's 2006 4.2i to either the Aero or the 5.3; either way, I’m staying with SAAB.
Reason for the upgrade is because my wife was involved in a head on accident, she suffering from a broken ankle, but she swears by the vehicle.
I know from this experience the OnStar system is well worth it, we will always have an OnStar in our vehicles.
Even though the 9-7 doesn't have the best frontal crash test ratings, it held up, my wife reported that she was going 45-50mph when the accident happened.
Happy Holidays,
Kevin
