Hi..

Ok, so after going through alot of threads, I'm assuming my rumble in the front passenger side is wheel bearing, and for $70 at Autozone for a Hub/w Bearing(Yes 70, I couln't believe it!!) I'll replace it.

Are there any detailed instructions on this?

Thanks
Joe

Most usually get a shop to do the work because you'll need a bearing press to install into the hub.

Plus - I am yet to hear of a 9-5 owner who replaced the wheel bearing and found the noise went away :o

Sadly many of us have changed them to find out its a tyre issue

Really tire?

I mean it sounds like metal on pavement.

But the tire has no up/down play..

So I should change/rotate the tires and see it it improves first?

Also the price at autozone is for the hub assembly, so they say,
it was ordered, I'll see what I get this weekend, in the meantime I'm going to rotate the tires tonight.

I'm new to Saab, tires really make that big a difference?

welll it definitly needs a bearing...

I jacked it up to rotate the tires..
and there is play, about 1/8"-1/4"
Honestly I checked last saturday there was some low noise and no play?
Now the noise is really irratating and "kind of" ear piercing!!
I can't get the part in until probably next Saturday.
What risks do I take driving it this week about 80 miles a day?
Except the loud noise?

Thanks
Joe

The bearing could totally fail, then you need a new hub / shaft.............assuming that the wheel doesnt come off completely :o

I had my bearings replaced 2 months ago, and broke the left front within a month. Damn sticky summer tires. :(
