Are your Saab badges fading and flaking?
Are you thinking of spending around £20 for each new badge?
Are you wondering how on earth you're going to get the old badge off without chipping or denting the bodywork?

Why not try a set of vinyl decals?

Vinyl decals will last longer than the OEM badges.
They can be ordered in any of the designs shown below.
There is no need to remove the old badge as the decals will fit straight on.
Plus thay are so much cheaper.

Chris' pics clearly show the high quality of the decals.

If you are interested in purchasing a set of decals for your Saab as discussed in this thread (http://www.saabcentral.com/forums/showthread.php?t=106280) please read the following and only place an order if you agree to all parts of this offer including the terms and conditions.

This offer is for UK members only.

Each badge costs £2.50 GBP.

I have secured a discount on bulk orders totalling 100x badges or more.
Rather than passing the discount on directly I will use it to take care of the postage and packing.
If you order 2x badges I'll have 60 pence for postage, an envelope and a piece of card. If you order more badges the price per badge remains the same. I'm not in this to make money; anything left over will be donated to my favourite charity - NSPCC
I trust you all agree this is the easiest and best way to deal with the monetary side of this offer.
Some of you guys on Saabcentral have known me for a few years so you know I'm a trustworthy kinda guy. For those who don't know me have a look at my ebay ID (same username) for some idea of how trustworthy I am.

Bottom line is we need at least 50x members to purchase two or more badges.

The supplier has examined the logos as shown on the pic below and they are able to produce all of them, including the Taliaferro logo.

Badge sizes for reference:
63mm - front/rear badges 9-5 saloon/estate and 9-3ss
49mm - front badge classic 900, 9000, NG900 and OG9-3
58mm - rear badge 9000 and NG900
55mm - OEM 9-5 and 9-3ss wheel badge (4x required)
44mm - OEM 9000 wheel badge (4x required)

Background colours available are BLACK or BLUE

Font colours available are WHITE or SILVER

The outer ring on the badge will be SILVER

Terms and conditions.

This offer is for UK members only.

This offer will remain open for two weeks from this date. Closing date is Friday 7th September 2007 @ 17:00. Any orders placed after this time will not be honoured.

Please place your order on the thread and not via private message.

If you have any valid questions please post them on this thread and not via private message.

All payments are to be made by cheque. Payable to Gary Holdsworth. Apologies if you don't have a cheque book. I'm not messing about with paypal or any other payment means so please do not ask.

Payments are to be received no later than one week after the closing date. 14th September 2007.
DO NOT send payment until I confirm we have reached the minimum number of badges required.

The order will be placed with the supplier only when all cheques are received and cleared.

The supplier needs five working days to produce the badges.

Worst case scenario would be badges through your door and in your possession by 2nd October but hopefully sooner.
(I think I've worked that out correctly)

My email address and postal address will be sent to all participants after the closing date.

When placing your order please include the following details:
Your username
Badge reference number (use the numbers on the pic below)
Number of badges required
Sizes of badges required
Required background colour
Required font colour

When posting payment please include the following details:
Your name
Your postal address (including postcode)
Your username on Saabcentral

All email correspondence should include the following details:
Your name
Your user name on Saabcentral

All packages will be posted to you using Royal Mail 'Signed For' so they will require a signature upon delivery.

Please accept my apologies if any of my written words appear condescending. It's not meant in that way; I'm just trying to keep it clear and simple.

As a final note and because I do not want to be hassled throughout I must make it clear that I will end any members participation in this group buy if I receive constant emails etc asking silly questions or chasing orders. I'm sure you know the sort of thing I'm talking about. I'm doing this group buy out of the goodness of my heart and because so many folks on this site have been so very helpful to me in the past so please don't cause me any pain. I've seen lots of group buys come and go and I've seen how stressful it can be for the person holding the group buy. My divorce reaches its final stage on 13th August 07 so as you can probably imagine I am not in need of any further stress. Here's hoping for smooth sailing throughout.

[EDIT] dates amended due to extension.

We could potentially make these to any spec but the problem is where do we stop? If I accept your request I'll have to accept others. I don't need a crystal ball to tell me that will cause many headaches.

Sorry mate but the answer is no

Orders placed so far are for 16x badges plus whatever I order. If we continue at this pace we have no chance of reaching the required number.

Does anybody know what size the badges are on 9-3's?

I'm just wondering if it's worth opening this group buy up to those guys

Indeed - I'm a C900 bloke, and only saw the thread because some 'merkins were complaining in the Lounge about not being able to join in...

Dunno about that, but mine are going in the rear side windows anyway, so the precise size is academic!

I have emailed the supplier to see if they are able to produce these decals in the following sizes.

Front.....................49mm
Rear......................58mm
Wheel centres ........44mm

As I understand it the above sizes are for the 9000 and possibly also the 900/9-3.

If the supplier can produce these then you must measure your own badges as I will not be held responsible if they are wrong. I don't have a 9000 or 900 nearby to double check but I am confident the measuring skills of the chaps who supplied those sizes are spot on.

When I get a reply from the supplier I'll update this thread.

Please let me make one point very clear; If at any point throughout this group buy I feel I am being hassled unnecessarily I will drop the whole thing without a second thought. I understand there may be the odd issue here and there with postage and whatnot and I do intend to see this through to the end. Let's keep this simple please :D

Update.

- Target number of decals is not going to be reached by end of this week so we can either call it a day or extend if for another couple of weeks. I'm up for extending it.

- No response as yet from supplier regarding the extra sizes.
Hopefully they'll come back with a 'YES' and then we can open this up to other Saab groups. That should help secure the target figure.

When I know more I'll issue an update.

Some info in the sizes:

The classic 900, 9000, NG900 and OG9-3 all share the same front badge (part no. 4522884) which are 49mm in diameter (measurement of from inside chrome ring). 9-5 part no. 4911541 and is 63mm (as we already know :)). 9-3ss is also 63mm but part no. 12785870.

For the rear badges the 9000 and NG900 share the same (part no. 4171856) and are 58mm diameter. Like the 9-5 the 9-3SS rear is 63mm but different part no. (4911574 and 12785871 respectively). Afraid I dont have a classic 900 or OG9-3 to measure the rear size as they are different part no. from the other models.

If someone wants to check my measurements feel free

Hope this info helps if you can get the other sizes.

Thanks
Cammy

Bugg@r, you'll have to rule me outta this one.

Just noticed on your T&Cs that you'll only take a cheque, don't have a cheque book as they are becoming less and less commonly accepted and due to the last one "getting lost in the post", I just cancelled the option on my account. Would have thought that due to the Royal Mail's unreliability and general incompetence PayPal would have been easier and I did want over £30 worth of badges.................but I aint organising it I suppose.
Sorry:cry:

:o - GROUP BUY CLOSED - :o

Hello all,
You will be pleased to hear we have reached the required target on decal orders. Exactly 100x plus the half dozen or so I'll be ordering.

All participants have a private message with further details enclosed.

When all payments are received and cleared the order will be placed with the supplier.

If payments are not received by Monday next week (17/09/07) then those orders will be removed so as not to delay this group buy for the others involved.

I hope to hear from you all soon.

Kind regards,
Gary Holdsworth

PS
Murph95, I am unable to send you PM

Kermit

Gary, can you please confirm postage costs? Correct me if i'm wrong but you want a cheque for £5.60 from me for 2 badges @ £2.50 each plus 60p postage, correct?

Gazolzwurf
11-09-07, 04:00 PM
I have secured a discount on bulk orders totalling 100x badges or more.
Rather than passing the discount on directly I will use it to take care of the postage and packing.
If you order 2x badges I'll have 60 pence for postage, an envelope and a piece of card. If you order more badges the price per badge remains the same. I'm not in this to make money; anything left over will be donated to my favourite charity - NSPCC

The above quote is taken from my first post.

To clarify:
Payment is £2.50 for each badge ordered. This includes all postage/packing fees so long as two or more are purchased.

To clarify further:
I'm asking each of you for £2.50 per badge
The supplier is charging me £2.20 per badge (ish, with VAT etc)
So those folks who are ordering two badges will send me £5.00
I will send the supplier £4.40 of that and use the remaining 60p for postage and packing.

More info to baffle:
To post a letter by 'Royal Mail Signed For' is 69p (that's nine pence more than I'm getting for those who are only ordering two badges, plus I need to buy envelopes etc)
Those participants who are ordering more than two badges are in effect paying for a portion of everybody else's postage.

Team work. Great init

I bet you're glad you asked me now aren't ya :p

Not quite the 100x we were looking for but my supplier should be ok with it, hopefully. If not it looks like I'll be ordering 20 or so decals for myself

All cheques will be taken to the bank tomorrow so they should be cleared by Thurs, Fri next week. That's when I'll place the formal order with my supplier and that will be the next update on this thread.

Stay patient fellas, we're nearly there and I'm sure in the end it will have been worth the wait :D

Dear All,

Sorry, about the delay, I've had to take some time off work to look after our baby because my wife has been ill.

We don't have access to the internat at home, so work is the only time I get access to the internet, I only returned back to work on Monday and have just got round to logging on to the site....I haven't had a look at all the posts since my last visit, I just skipped to the last page.

I can understand peoples annoyance at me delaying the process, ....and I am sincerely sorry for this, and for not getting in touch with to Gaz, to let him know the situation. To be honest, with everything going on at home, it was the least of my worries...but again, sorry.

If the order process is closed, then I regret that I've missed out, but if not I could still send payment.

Sorry again,

Andy

Andy, don't worry about it buddy. Family comes first everytime. Get your cheque posted, these boys can wait another couple of days, I'm sure they won't mind :cheesy:

.... and if they do, tough :o :p

[EDIT] All, clearly I've edited the above quote, I just wanted to show how many times 'sorry' was written. I think Andy's sorry for holding this up but hey, look on the bright side, at least nobody died :cheesy:

Gaz,

Thanks for being so understanding. You're right family does come first, we've had a pretty tough time lately, but thankfully things are now on the mend.

Cheque will be in tonight's post.

By the way, I bought a set of Saab 10 spoke alloys for a Saab 93 Convertible about 5 years ago from a guy in Knaresborough, was it you ?

Thanks again,

Andy

No worries Andy.

--------

Update.
All cheques from those who sent them on time  :cheesy: have cleared so I will place the order with the supplier on Monday. I'm not going to wait for the cheques that arrived/are arriving late to clear before placing the order. You seem to be trustworthy chaps so I'll get this moving along sharpish.

Besides, if the cheques do bounce I've got your home addresses :o  :o

Just messing with y'all :p
If I had any doubt the cheques would bounce I would wait until they've cleared.

The supplier is straight on this case and we're looking at mid next week for delivery to me. Then a bit of fumbling around from me and you guys should have them at some point the following week.

The supplier has done a couple of tests and successfully kept the eye of the griffin at 49mm but he's struggling to keep the eye at 44mm. Sizes above these are ok. He tells me it's very intricate at the smaller sizes and also advises that care must be taken when washing, otherwise the eye could be lost. He's going to write out a set of instructions for applying the decals and that will include washing instructions – basically a quick single wipe with a sponge would be enough and using a pressure washer on it would be out of the question due to the size of the eye.

Hi Gaz,
I have only just found this post. I really should pass by more often. Great job you are doing. If you did have to buy some for yourself to make the order up and they were the aero ones (not worried about size) I will happily buy a couple from you. Robin.

Gazolzwurf
05-10-07, 12:57 AM
128 was the order. I've ordered a couple of sets for myself, including a set of the 'Aero' ones. If I don't fit them I'll give you a knock. If I do fit them, well, err, you're just gonna have to make sure you pop back here more often to catch them next time around :p

The decals are on their way and should be with me by Friday

(dependant, of course, on what Mr Postie and his posse get upto  )

Instructions from supplier:

It is not rocket science to apply them – just make sure the surface is completely clean and dry and then treat as a normal sticker, working from one edge and smoothing it down carefully so there are no bubbles.
Leave the sticker for at least 14 days before washing, so as to strengthen the bond. A simple wipe with a sponge would be enough to clean it after that.
The design MUST NOT BE PRESSURE WASHED.

All ready for posting. Job for tomorrow or Friday. Probably more likely to be Friday. Working tomorrow as normal plus I've got a job that kicks off at five past midnight tomorrow night. Fitting y'all in when possible.

I've had a quick check through the decals and there are one or two that have a slight defect.

e.g the letter 'o' in the word 'Aero' on the pic below.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v384/Gazolzwurf/Cars/DSC03847.jpg

I've arranged, where possible, for the best quality badges to be sent to those who placed their orders first. First come, first served, kinda. If anyone wishes to return their badges due to defect, I will issue those people with the suppliers contact details. IMHO any of the minor defects I've seen will not be noticed when they're fixed, lacquered and polished til they shine.

My work here is done ..... almost :cheesy:

Would there be any extras for my Black 9-5 Aero Wagon? I want either the Aero one or Nordic.

If not, where can I get these without group buy?

I need for all badges including the wheels.

Any chance for those of us who are either, outside the UK/ missed deadlines/ unable to pay via your payment method, that you could publicise or PM the suppliers contact details. As they now have the pattern, they could perhaps supply more directly, if perhaps at greater cost?

Cheers.

You guys owe the NSPCC some money.
Postage was calculated at 69p each when in fact it cost £1.04.
35p from each of you (20x) = £7.00
It's worthwhile putting this post up for £7

I've not worked out exactly what the profits were on this lot. I estimate around £30 so I'm gonna put £40 in their kitty.
