: New (?) '74 EMS

I need a reliable daily driver and have located a '74 EMS (comes with non-EMS parts car). My question: is it madness to think I can find parts for it?

Don't know about America but it's not too difficult to get parts in the UK. There aren't too many 99 owners from the USA that come in here. Maybe speak to these guys they might be able to help you more

Not sure about parts either but I'm sure there are plenty of guys in the US running 99s - on the plus side you should find the car reliable for daily use. I use my 73 every day and I think most of the guys here do too.......

It depends on what you need. What year is the parts car? Is it also a 2-dr notchback like the EMS? 73-74 2.0 liter engine and fuel systems are compatible. In 75 it went to k-jet injection, but the block, head, radiator, interior, lights(turn signals and tail lights till 1976 are the same). Calipers and brake hydraulics are the same from 69-74, but try to find a set of calipers or re-build kits. Fuel injection components are not readily available anywhere that I have found.

Ebay is sometimes a good place to look for parts, but don't always count on it to have what you need at the time you need it. The Saabsite linked below is useful sometimes, but they don't have everything. Another good place is Chip Lamb's West of Sweden Saab.

I loved my 74EMS, and it pained me to cut it up. But it lives on in my fun to drive viggen blue 73EMS 8)
