Does one exist? My dealer said, "No, and even if it did, it would probably cost you $600 or so." Fine, but after the warranty's up, my first visit to the shop will probably double that. Does anyone know if they've published a "factory service manual" for this model? If not, what do their techs do when a car pulls into the service department?

Don't confuse tech manuals for public consumption with tech manuals that teach the techs.

For the basics, you could try a manual for the Trailblazer/Envoy.
Obviously that is not going to give you an of the many updates done to make the 9-7X what it is, but it could be a start.

Why are you looking for one now?
I would be leaving any work for the Saab warranty at this point.

I'm certainly going to exhaust the warranty period before I touch the car, but beyond that, I generally prefer to do my own work. Unfortunately, car "tech" has passed my grass roots troubleshooting abilities by a few years, so a decent manual with wiring diagrams, assembly/disassembly instructions for some mechanical subsystems, specifications, etc. is a must. I can do almost anything I need to do on my '94 GMC pickup by myself and without any manual. A 2006 Anything? Not so much.

Why now? Why not? I'd like to be able to do some basic troubleshooting of problems before I hand over the keys to the dealer. At least then, I can protect myself and better understand the problem and repair. In other words, I prefer to be an educated service customer.
