I'm back, and this time I'm staying! With this keeper:

The car

My third 900, purchased on the 14 March 07.

It's a completely standard 1992 Turbo 16s, in Platana Gray, with red APC and saggy headlining.
I'm the third owner, and it has 138k on the clock.

The goal

To create a comfortably fast, yet descrete 900, that can be enjoyed as a daily driver if need be.

Plans

I do have a long list of plans for this car. A small power increase being first, followed importantly by handling/braking. Then, or course, back to power.

At the top of the "to do list" are the basics (in no particular order):

FMIC - with high flowing plumbing.
Induction kit, with large inlet pipe.
Direct Ignition.
Full stainless exhaust - with 3 inch elbow and cat delete.
900aero.com APC resistor mod. done - yes, the red one, I don't give a crap about the value!
This is a far as I go in the first stint of power/engine performance

Followed by:

Lowering kit - springs & shocks (not sure who to go with yet).
Remove front ARB (making the car look like it never had it - for the MOT test).
Braided hoses.
4-pot brakes up front- possibly brembo, with groved discs, and fast road pads.
Polly bush the suspension (this will possibly be over the course of the whole project, bush by bush).
Then I'm back to power, this is hazy at the moment, but it will include things like:

TD04 turbo.
2.3 headswap, with 2.1 intake.
2.3 flywheel.
strong clutch.
stand alone ECU (megasquirt or emerald).
and a possible conversion to run on E85.
From then on, who knows... but for now I'm aiming for acheivable targets

I do have plans for cosmetic mods i.e.

16 inch aeros/cross spokes,
whaletail,
vent covers,
clear lenses, Ordered
hatch louvres,
9000 aero front seats.

But these are for when things turn up at the right time with the right/resonable price. But I would like the wheels sooner, rather than later!

I will update any other things I do to the car as the thread goes along.

This is going to be a very fun love/hate relationship that I hope you all enjoy!

Four "mods" on the car shortly after purchase are a HKS ssqv fitted with the help of a 9-5 turbo rubber inlet pipe (this will be adapted to re-circ when I do the FMIC, as the noise is starting to bug me!)

I've fitted a knock led which I'm yet to permanently install in the cabin (I will once I get a boost gauge)

And like palmer I've adapted an "extra" switch the turn to base boost, saving the gearbox from heavy feet.

Clear lenses now ordered :cheesy: along with some more silicone piping to finnish of the engine bay, and cruise system.

Great to see you made one of these threads!

How does your car do when you let off the gas at intersections?

LH 2.4 does not like BOV's usually, and I was wondering if the SSQV was any better.

Thanks Palmer! :D

My car is is lucas injection, but I don't think that plays a difference. I think the stalling problem is due the the AMM not liking the vented air. But from personal experience it's really down to where the valve is fitted, on my old T16 (lucas again) I had the ssqv by the throttle body and it wanted to stall out. I also had a forge unit in the same location, same problem. But right now I've got the valve fitted between the turbo and stock IC, and it's fine when I let off the gas.

I know some will say I'll get turbo stall, BUT my argument is that because the valve is fitted right after the turbo it's going to be venting the air that would cause the turbo to stall in the first place.

I don't hear any stall, and I do know what it sounds like, I had some on my old car when I had a bailey DV26 valve fitted, sounded like the car was farting

Thanks Jim, it's platana gray
