View Full Version : Front Wheel Grinding/Shaking
I have a 2005 ARC which was purchased new. Over the last few months I have experienced an occasional shaking in the front wheels/axis when backing the vehicle up. The shaking is similar to driving on a flat tire or loose traction on snow.
The shaking occurs maybe once every 2 weeks or so. It's not an every day occurance. The dealer has no idea what's wrong and says everything checks out okay. I've put on new tires and this did not solve anything. I've had people tell me it might be the AWD.
Any ideas out there on what might be causing this problem? Has anyone else experienced this.

From your description it sounds similar to driving a 4WD vehicle with the 4WD disengaged but with the hubs still locked.
I guess what I'm saying is, it does sound like an issued related to the AWD system.
Do you have any idea what the dealer has done in their looking into the issue? I mean, have they just put the truck on the lift and look at stuff or have they pulled trouble codes?
If you subscribe to the OnStar service they may have something stored in your vehicle's diagnostics data that would indicate what the issue might be?
Maybe try either going to a different Saab dealer or perhaps your local GM dealer and have them take a look.
Here's a link to TSB titles for your truck... look through and see if anything matches your issues. to view the TSB you'll have to buy it but you might at least that there is one out there.

This is the exact same problem that GM is having with the TB Super Sports w/ AWD. GM has several "fixes", but as far as I know nothing has totally resolved the issue. I have experienced the same issue, but have yet to get a proper fix from GM.
Ahhhh, another 9 months left on the lease :D
