I have a UK standard 99 Viggen 3 door Coupe and am wondering if it is worth getting the steering rack brace £129 and the 22m rear ARB £129 to tweak the suspension. It is not an insignificant sum of money and is it really going to make that much difference? If so what is the difference and in which situations will I get the benefit?
If any one knows of a cheaper source, please let me know. As I say, the rest of the car is standard.
Have a look on abbotts and see what they use for the viggen rescue kit then source the parts yourself you can get the arb for less than a ton.
BUT youre lookin at a grand to get the full potential from a car of this stature to handle as it should!!(susp. kit £400+,rear arb £100, rack clamp £130, 6 point brace £170ish and some polybushes) Then its brakes and then power upgrades.
But the rear arb and steering clamp are the first things to do and you'll notice a BIG difference especially in steering feel and gettin the power down without pulling all over the road(terrible design fault by G.M)
HTH
i would do the rear anti roll bar first, because lets face it your probably not heavy on the gas in first and second gear too much then i would say steering rack clamp next (if you had to choose)
there is also a polyurethane bushing made for the other clamp on the steering rack as well
Welcome Taj,
I can vouch for the steering rack clamp and brace as well as the 22mm rear sway bar. The former, as others have said really helps with torque steer, but in all gears. When on the highway, down shifting to 3rd and getting on it, the car no longer automatically changes lanes. The latter really helps with body roll when cornering....the car sticks like glue. Both are very easy to install and worth the cost and effort. I've also installed an upper strut brace which does add some more control to the front end, but it's effect isn't quite as noticeable, so it's value is slightly less than the other bits.
I have a 6 point brace, steering rack poly bushing, and sport trans mount al ready to install but have yet to install....perhaps this weekend. I've heard lots of good things about the 6 point.
In the end, I have ordered both. I ended up paying £249 for the clamp and brace as well as a SAS 22mm ARB....
I will of course post my views once I have fitted them both.

I would skip the rear ARB & go straight to the koni kit. The VRK is so important because of how crappy the steering feel is on these cars ESPECIALLY when you are pushing the car in a turn or on the gas. It's scary how much the steering rack deflects causing the steering wheel to wiggle all over the place & also making the car tramline horribly. I think the 6pt brace is MUCH more important then the rear ARB due to how much more secure the front end is. It is true that the ARB does make the car flatter in turns & reduces understeer however if you cannot tell the car where to go the rear ARB doesn't really do anything.
Definantly get the full koni kit, makes the car ride & handle a LOT better!!! Looks better to
