The Saab seats have been designed in collaboration with physiology experts. The objective was that at least 95% of all drivers should be able to adjust their seat to a comfortable, anatomically sound and above all relaxed position. For a relaxed driver is a safer driver.

Aeronautical and military research has revealed that Man's ability to think and act is impaired at low temperatures. Judgement and feelings are blunted, and muscular movements are less precise. A cold driver is a stressed driver. So the Saab's electrically heated driver seat is more than a comfort feature-it also contributes substantially to road safety.

The back seat

The front seats are designed for relaxed, restful motoring. Various facilities provide excellent scope for further adjustment to suit individual preferences.
The controls at the front edge of the driver's seat allow it to be adjusted for height and rake to any one of four positions.	The impact-absorbing padding and the absence of sharp edges and corners at the rear of the front seats provide good protection for back seats passengers in the event of a collision.	Certain models in the 900 range are equipped with practical magazine pockets in the rear of the front seat backrests.

According to motoring journalists throughout the world, the Saab 900 has one of the most comfortable front seats on the car market. But back seat comfort is also high. The back seat cushion consists of more than 400 fine-gauge springs, covered with several layers of padding to give a degree of comfort comparable with a truly exclusive armchair. The standard seats are upholstered with velour-luxurious, airy and comfortable, in summer and winter alike. Leather upholstery is available as an option on certain models.

Three persons can be comfortably seated in the back seat. No bulky propeller shaft tunnel encroaches on the floor space or the padding of the back seat cushion. So the passenger in the middle is seated as comfortably as the other two. On most models, the back seat backrest is slightly dished for two persons and is provided with a folding centre armrest. To round off the exceptionally comfortable interior, several models are equipped with soft, comfortably shaped headrests in the back seat, which consist of foamed material, moulded around an energy-absorbing backing plate. The headrests can easily be removed before the backseat backrest is folded down.

The seating surfaces are upholstered with velour-luxury velour of extra-heavy quality on the Turbo models. The fabrics are very hard-wearing and durable. In cars with leather interior a soft, glove grade of leather is used for the seating surfaces.
