The SID unit.

The SID (Saab Information Display) consists of an EDU and SCC integrated in a single unit. It is located in the upper part of the center console.

There are four different versions of the SID:

• Outside temperature display
• Light sensor

SID unit 2:

• Clock (analogue)
• Outside temperature display
• Light sensor
• Audio display
• CHECK messages
• BLACK PANEL
• Trip computer
• Self-diagnostics

SID unit 3:

• Clock (analogue and digital)
• Outside temperature display
• Light sensor
• Audio display
• CHECK messages
• BLACK PANEL
• Trip computer (advanced)
• Self-diagnostics

SID unit 4:

• SID unit 1 with audio display

Upgrading the SID

A commonly asked question is whether it is possible to 'upgrade' the SID to a higher one. This is only really feasible if you are upgrading a SID2 to a SID3 - as the additional functions of the SID3 do not require further modification. If, however, the plan is to move from a SID1 to a SID2, then, in order to enjoy the the additional functionality, further work will be required to fit the extra sensors and this is usually too much effort and expense for the benefits that are offered.
